La première dominante de mes activités de recherche porte sur le fonctionnement de l’arbre et de l’écosystème. Le but de ces recherches est d’examiner en détail les processus impliqués dans les transferts d’eau et de chaleur du sol aux feuilles via une approche expérimentale, puis une approche de modélisation et de quantifier les stocks et les flux de carbone et d’eau à l’échelle continentale et de comprendre leur dynamique au cours de la vie de la forêt. Mes travaux de recherche ont permis de déterminer comment les différents attributs physiologiques et morphologiques des plantes interagissent pour produire un résultat écologique ainsi que de quantifier les impacts des contraintes hydrauliques sur la qualité du bois (bois juvénile, bois adulte), sur la croissance en hauteur, et sur la formation du bois de printemps et d’été. Ma seconde dominante de recherche est liée à l’écologie fonctionnelle. Cette orientation thématique s’appuie sur les connaissances en écophysiologie fonctionnelle et structurale décrites précédemment.
